Manual therapy is a “hands-on” approach to physiotherapy involving the use of specific skills including mobilization, exercise and education to restore optimal motion and function, and to reduce pain.
Acupuncture is used in conjunction with manual therapy, exercise, and education to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions using fine needles inserted into specific points on the body. The therapeutic goals of acupuncture are to control pain, resolve inflammation, and assist in restoration of physical function.
Specific exercises, education and manual therapy adapted for the peri-partum woman to ease the aches and pains associated with pregnancy, and to help restore strength to the abdomen, low back and pelvis by a physiotherapist with post-graduate training in Women’s Health.
Individualized exercises based on client needs may include cardiovascular conditioning, stretching, strengthening, and core stabilization exercises to improve balance, strength, endurance and function.
Education is an integral component to any physiotherapy treatment. Clients will understand the nature of their injury, learn how to care for themselves at home and most importantly learn strategies to prevent recurrences.
